I’ve been wanting to start a ‘Card and Cuppa Morning’ for a long while now, and thought the best time would be when Matthew started school and Adam was old enough for a bit longer at playgroup. So last Monday 7th September was the day! The morning is held in a beautiful coffee house which is along the front, next to the beach on Morecambe Bay, called Kerry’s Coffee House. The frontage on the shop is original, and from advertising the morning on groups on Facebook I’ve found out that it once was a sweet shop. Also it’s just down from the Eric Morecambe statue!

So for the first week I’ve chosen the Vintage Leaves stamp set, which is available in a 15% off bundle with the Leaflets Framelits Dies. I showed everyone how to create a layered look with different colours of inks, I guess you could say it’s a rainbow of leaves, but just with an Autumnal colour palette. Also I demonstrated the baby wipe technique, where you create your own ink pad, by blobbing ink from the ink refill bottles. The baby wipe technique gives the variegated look of colour. Personally I prefer the layered pattern look, but I wanted to give attendees a choice.

Everyone sat and contemplated for a short while what they were going to choose, and what layout they would go for. The ladies really took in everything that was said and enjoyed choosing what colours and patterns they were going to create. Two ladies had never done this type of crafting before and I was thrilled with what they made. I’m so pleased they came along and gave it ago. Hopefully they will be back soon.

Vintage Leaves Card & Cuppa Monday 7th September 2015

After just the one 2.5 hour session on Monday, it really took me back to the beginning of my 6 years with Stampin’ Up! and one of my reasons for joining. I love to teach and watch people jump right in and make something special. I also love the sense of community and friendships that can be made with complete strangers, how we can connect and laugh, this is all made possible with something so simple as paper and ink!

I’ll be back at Kerry’s Coffee House with another selection of cards each Monday morning, from 9:30 – 12:00. Choose your drink and make a card for £5. No booking required! I do hope you can make it too!
