It’s the start of a new week and I have a Sketch Challenge for you from the team at the Global Design Project. If you’re ever struggling for inspiration, our website has lots of card sketches, which are card layout ideas, colour scheme ideas and even inspiration from my fellow designers.
For this week’s sketch, I’ve inked up one of my new stamp sets, Whale Done [View Stamp Set]. This stamp set can be found on page 96, if you have your catalogue to hand. [Purchase Catalogue | View PDF] This stamp set is available as a 10% off Bundle, which coordinates with a Whale punch.
I’ve gone with a bold card base today, Pumpkin Pie! Seeing as my card is all about the orange fish, I felt this was a good match today. There’s a collection of 5 fish which are together on 1 stamp, I’ve stamped this several times to create a shoal of fish. I then added some bubbles in Seaside Spray ink, along with some of the seaweed in Pear Pizzazz in the bottom right corner.
To create the sentiment, I stamped the greeting ‘Hoping all your Birthday fishes come true.’ onto Whisper White Thick cardstock, and punched this out with the Tailored Tag punch. I added some more fish and bubbles around the outside edge, then added to my card with a couple of dimensionals.
The finishing touch was to add 3 pale blue sequins, to look like shiny bubbles. I really like these new sequins, they come adhesive-backed and instead of having a hole and revealing the glue dot, the sequin is closed up. That’s very clever!
