Tropical birthday card with the Timeless Tropical stamp set

Yesterday we took the boys to a little zoo near our house. Goodness me it was hot! The zoo had a wonderful tropical indoor section with all sorts of creepy crawlies, I won’t mention any names but I’m sure you can imagine! They also had lots of tropical plants, orchids, lots of greenery but also a stunning bright pink Hibiscus. It was so beautiful and I couldn’t help but think about making a card inspired by this pink flower. I instantly thought of the Timeless Tropical stamp set with matching In The Tropics dies, which features a Hibiscus flower stamp.

I’ve stamped the Hibiscus in Melon Membo ink, then coloured it with the Light and Dark Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blends pens. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive ink, and then coloured with the Light Old Olive Stampin’ Blend, I didn’t use the dark pen because I like the shading that was already on the stamped image.

My card today is a gatefold style, where it opens up from the centre. I’ve layered the bright Bumblebee colours plaid pattern paper on the outside, and chosen the crumb cake plaid for the inside flaps. I love how nice and bright my card is today, quite fitting for all this hot weather and sunshine.

The inside of the card I’ve stamped ‘May your birthday be memorable’ inside in Old Olive. I couldn’t resist stamping another flower and leave on the inside also. Isn’t Melon Mambo such a fun, happy colour?

Here we are at the zoo, what a dodgy lot!
