Have you seen these cute turtles? It’s interesting that the set is called Turtle Friends, as I would actually class these cute characters as Tortoises. From discussions with my fellow demonstrators around the world, both a Tortoise and Turtle is recognised here. Interesting hey!
There’s been a few little babies born in our family and friends, it’s reminded me it’s nice to have a stamp set handy, or a few cards made ready to send out.
I always think back to before I was a Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator, when I was trying to make a baby card for a little girl and all of the craft products I had were clashing. The pinks were either too light, too dark, too salmon coloured. Ugh! When I discovered Stampin’ Up!® and I realised that the cardstock colour, ribbons, accessories and inks all matched, I felt that Stampin’ Up! was the answer! And here I still am 14 years on!
HOW TO MAKE A COLOURED TORTOISE
- Stamped outline of the tortoise in Tuxedo Memento Black ink.
- With Balmy Blue Light Stampin’ Blend, colour in the tortoise. Leaving the eyes and toes white.
- With Misty Moonlight Light or Dark Stampin’ Blend, colour in the tortoise’s toes. You could even colour the tail in dark to be different.
- Stamp the shell pattern over the top of the colouring, in Misty Moonlight ink.
- Use the coordinating punch to cut out the tortoise.
- Repeat steps 1 – 4 for the smaller tortoise.
The new Abstract Beauty Designer Series Paper is new in the January – June 2022 Mini Catalogue . It’s a smaller scale paper, sized at 4″ x 6″. One first thought, I thought that was a little odd, but when I thought about it, so often I actually cut my 6″ x 6′” pattern papers down to be more on the scale of a card front. Then not actually use that 2-inch strip that I’ve cut off. The paper has some lovely patterns on it, and I’m sure you could choose something for most occasions. The gold foiling is always a nice bonus too!
